These standards describe how World of Terpenes articles are researched, written, and corrected. They apply to everything published on the site.
Sourcing
Articles are built from primary sources wherever they exist: peer-reviewed research, statutes, court filings, and publications from regulators. Where a claim comes from a secondary source, it is treated with extra caution and worded accordingly. Internal links point readers to related articles on this site for further reading; an internal link is never counted as a source for a claim.
Statistics and study findings are checked against the original paper or document before publication, not against how another site described them.
Health content
Articles that discuss how terpenes may affect the body are information, not medical advice. Each one carries a notice to that effect.
Terpenes are described as "studied for" or "associated with" an effect, or as the subject of early research. They are not described as treatments, cures, or proven interventions. Where the evidence comes from animal or laboratory research rather than human trials, the article says so. Where the evidence is mixed or thin, the article says that too.
Health articles link to the research they discuss so readers can read the source themselves.
Commercial roundups
Some articles compare brands, suppliers, or products. Roundups are meant to apply the same criteria to every entry and to say what those criteria are. Older roundups are being reviewed and updated to meet this standard. Inclusion in a roundup is not a certification of quality, and readers should verify current product details with the seller before buying.
Corrections
Errors happen. When one is confirmed, the article is corrected, and significant changes are noted in the text. To report a problem, send the article URL, what needs correcting, and a source where possible. Details are on the About page.
AI and tooling
Drafts may be produced with software tools, including AI-assisted writing tools. Tools do not decide what is published. Factual claims are checked against their sources by a person before an article is published, and the editorial desk is accountable for the final text. Older articles are being reviewed against these standards and corrected where needed.
